Description:

You won't see many decorations in the Museum of Public Education, the only one of its kind in Russia. The interior is quite simple, but strangely touching: school desks without backs or lids, slates, canvas bags and copybooks made by the pupils of the school.

Here you will learn about the history of the most popular and accessible school of the second half of the 19th century - the parochial school for girls that was the first in the city.

If you visit our museum you will see how children in the 19th century studied, what schools Ilya Ulyanov opened.

The Museum is situated in two buildings: the building of the parochial school for girls and the outbuilding for teachers. Much attention is paid to the life and work of Ilya Ulyanov.
