The district local-history museum was open on the 26-th of February 1983. In September 1981 people start to collect materials for the museum. The exhibition was approved by T. Varaksina (head of a branch, Altai state loc al-history museum). The museum was created by the all region and a museum council of 16 people was approved. The first exhibits contained information about brave but simple people that that lived in our region
