Òhe exhibitions halls of the Russian Academy of Arts are located in the building well-known in Moscow as Morozov's Mansion. Its basis is the main house of city estate dated by the 18th and 19th centuries. In the early 19th century it was owned by General A.A.Tuchkov and later by Count S.Potemkin. Honored Citizen of Moscow D.A.Morozov bought it in1889 but ten years later it became the property of another Morozov -I.A - who was a large-scale industrialist and art collector. The Morozov' s collection of modern art was unique even for Europe.

    In 1928, the Morozov's and Shchukin's collections were united in one at the passed State Museum of new Western art (21 Prechistenka St.). Later this museum was closed and its collection partly enriched the Hermitage and partly - the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts. . In 1948, the estate was occupied by the Presidium of Academy of Arts and Research Institute of theory and history of fine arts.

    In the late 1990s the full restoration of the main building was conducted. Mansion front and historic interiors were restorated as well.

    Numerous exhibitions are held here, in the suite of rooms in the first floor. The leading masters changing each other expose their best pieces. Some time one can visit the exposition where the whole artistic dynasties are presented or the special exhibitions presenting young generation. Everything here reflects the current processes and main trends of domestic and foreign art.
