The municipal institution "The History Museum of Taiga Town" was created in May,31 2000 and began its activity in 2001.
The most interesting exhibits of the fund are: pictures painted by N.I.Kashentsev, an amateur artist and the Great Patriotic War veteran, pictures painted by G.I.Plyaskin, a professional artist, a collection of samovars, irons, sewing machines, documents of the beginning of the 20th century (photographs, passports, a handwritten diary (1919-1926) and others).
The main activity of "The History Museum of Taiga Town" includes: keeping, registration and scientific processing of the museum items and collections, to organize permanent, temporal and mobile exhibitions from the Museum fund and other Kuzbass museums.
According to the regional national project "Culture" there were organized 29 exhibitions, 10 lectures, 10 bus and pedestrian excursions, where 6.700 people have taken part. There are 2 constant exhibitions in the museum: "Russian Log" in the regional sector and " Taiga Citizens - Soldiers of Victory" in the military fame hall. The museum employees cooperate with Taiga Orthodox churches. A. Toma and A.Alekseev, St.Andrey Kritzkiy Church dean and St.Ilji Curch dean, always organize lectures for people on the eve of Christian holidays. The History Museum employees regularly take part in socially important activities, organized by Taiga Administration Culture Department. Photo exhibitions devoted to the Victory Day, Town Day, Soldier Day are among them.
Taiga is one of the oldest Kuzbass towns, so one of the main tasks of the museum employees is preserving its historic and cultural heritage. In the town one can see 9 symbolic monuments, 5 memorials and 10 memorial plaques, which are the sources of the historical information and should be regarded as items of the museum exhibitions
