The museum opened its doors for visitors for the fist time om March 23, 1975. It is an integral part of the Ural State Academy of Architecture and Art. It occupies the buildings of an old Eketerinburg Iron-Making Works, which are considered as monuments of industrie architecture. There are research archive and impressive collection of rare books in the Museum. The archive funds represent unique documents on the history of regional architecture and its development, as researche and education discipline. One can find here the personal collections belonging to well-known architects and including numerous drowings and old photos of different buildings and architectural monuments.
