The staff of the museum is not numerous and very young, but we succeeded in collecting more than eight thousand storage units. We prepared and stage more than 400 m2 of historical exhibitions, devoted to our town and the Northern Fleet. Ekaterinenskaya Harbour, Aleksandrovsk, Polyarny are frequently mentioned in the scientific articles and papers, devoted to the historical events, which took place in those settlement. The researchers of our museum found some documents and materials, confirming these fact.

    These scientific conferences on various subjects: 1) "Land. Sea. People. The ways of sustainable equilibrium.". 2) "The town of Polyarny in the" history of the underwater forces of Russia". 3) "The creative meeting on the problems of the coastal territories of Murmansk area ecology" were carried out on the basis of our museum. Our museum closely cooperates with the scientific Institutions, such as Murmansk Sea Biological Institute and N.M. Knipovich Polar Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography. The researchers of these organizations take an active part in the joint projects.

    In 1999, the museum carried out an international project in close cooperation with Norway (Tromse University). A lot of scientific projects in our museum are put into practice due to the cooperation with UNESCO: numerous materials on ecological educational programmes, periodicals and directories have been received within the framework of the projects.

    The museum has run a scientific-methodical seminar for fours years, its sessions are devoted to the museum problems. Despite the short tern of work, the museum researchers have done enough to erase the "blank spaces" in the history of the town, the fleet, the studies of the North
