Description:
    The museum was opened on the fifth of April, 2001. The expositions tell about the history of the Cheboksary district from ancient times till the present day. The museum was named in honour of our fellow-countryman.

    The name of Nikita Yakovlevich Bichurin is entered in the history of the Russian science and education as a great scientist ot the 19 century one of the founders of oriental studies, the first compiler of the multivolume Chinese- Russian dictionary and a brilliant translator from oriental languages into Russian. Monk Iakinf by right was recognized by contemporaries as the best sinologist of Europe

    In his fundamental works there are unique data about history of the Chienese, Mongols, Tibetans, Kalmyks and other peoples of the East. Till now these data have not lost their significance, they are claimed by world culture
