The memorial in commemoration of heroes of Kursk battle is a branch of Belgorod state museum of local history, was opened on August 3rd, 1973. It was built on the 624th kilometer of the highway Moscow - Krim, on the same place where great fights passed on July and August in 1943. The authors of the project are painters from Belgorod - A.I. Grebenyuk, V.I. Kazak, V.D. Leus and an architect F.T. Bozhko. The Memorial complex consist of a hall of Battle Glory, a common grave, an Everlasting Fire, a monument to the Soviet tankmen - a legendary tank T-34, a senior sergeant A.D. Azarov`s anti-tank gun, Avenue of Heroes, George Pobedonostsa's chapel
