Description:

Velikiy Ustyug State Museum-Preserve of History, Architecture and Decorative Arts is one of the oldest museums of Vologda region.Ot was founded in 1918 . The museum exhibitions are situated in the architectural sites of the 17-18 centuries. There are some unique carved iconostasis in the ancient churches. The museum has a rich collection of the decorative folk cratts such as northernniello, birch bark carving - known as shemocksa carving, Russian - folk costume. The museum has a uniquecollection of exhibits outlining the history of Ustyug from ancient to the present day.
