The museum was founded in 1991. This Fortress is a memorial of history and fortification 18-19 C. A.D. The museum contains important collection of weapons and armors. Besides there are notable archaeological collection of material culture, including exhibits from all historical ages in developing the peoples in the South Siberia. The scientific and cultural potential of museum is rather rich. The scientific researches have place here. Every year its scholars carry out archaeological excavations of ancient settlements and burial-places on the territory of Kuznetsk region. Elaboration undertaken in order to discover new facts from history of our lend are well-known not only in Siberia. The museum cooperates tightly with museums of many cities in Russia in information exchanges on the history of South Siberia, archaeology and fortification art and monuments repairs and renewal ways.
