The exposition at the Kalinisk History and Local Lore Museum gives an account of the Kalinisk region flora, fauna and history - from the earliest times to the present. The museum holds about ten thousand items: archaeological and numismatic collections, paintings, documents and rare books. The most interesting collections are those telling about our fellow countrymen: M.N. Alekseyev - a writer; I.P. Bardin - academician, metallurgist; D.F. Tsaplin - a sculptor; Olga Kovalyova - a popular Russian folk singer. The staff is involved in improving the permanent exhibitions and devising new ones. History, biology, ecology and painting lessons are given here, alongside with other types of educational and recreational activities
