Description:

A community museum in Samoilovka was founded in 1968. The first items have been collected by the schoolchildren concerned in local studies. Since July 1991 is has been operating as a branch of the Saratov Regional Museum of Local Lore. Nowadays the exposition is meant to give an account of the Samoilovka district history, culture and nature. The ethnographic collection is among the most interesting ones. It comprises the XIX century things characteristic of the Ukrainian peasants - the village earliest settlers: weaving loom, traditional clothes and embroidered towels, pottery, household articles, etc. A set of exhibits has been contributed by the local women ensemble of bandura players - the only one in Russia: bandura, Ukrainian national costume, photos and memoirs
