Description:
    Established in 1967, Solovki Museum maintains and manages 252 historic buildings and the cultural landscapes of the 7 islands of the Solovki Archipelago. The historic buildings under the museum's management include: the fortified monastery of the 15-19th centuries with external household buildings and churches, Neolithic labyrinths, one of the Northernmost open-air Botanic Gardens and memorial sites, related to the prison camp of the 1920s and a system of lakes, canals and a dock.

    Besides its main activities-conservation, restoration, presentation and visitor services-the musuem's priorities include education, promotion of Solovki and community work. The museum's Educational Center offered programs for 500 students from Central and Northern Russia in 2003.

    Over 15 guided tours provided to all the museum sites, in Russian and English languages.
