Bratsk joint city history museum of mastering Angara River was founded in 1990. It consisted of 3 branches: Museum of Architecture and Ethnography "Angara Village" ("Angarskaya derevnya"); Art Exhibition Hall; History political exile museum.

In 2003 another branch was joined: "Bratsk and Bratskgesstroy history museum". Now Bratsk joint city history museum of mastering Angara River consists of 4 branches and also: administration, book keeping and funds of museum units
