Description:

The Hero of the Soviet Union M. P. Devyataev House Museum is one of the most popular and important history and culture institutions in the Republic of Mordovia. Next to the museum is a monument to M. P. Devyataev and at the entrance to the township of Torbeevo is erected a real aircraft monument, MiG-17, in honor of M. P. Devyataev's heroic escape from a nazi prison.

The museum was opened as a public service in the house where M. P. Devyataev had been born and had lived, for the 30th Anniversary of the Great Victory, on the 8th May 1975. In 1978, it was integrated as a branch into the Joint Local Lore Museum of the Republic of Mordovia.
