It's an open-air museum. The area of the site is 376 hectares. The length of the partially preserved rampart is 5,7 km. There are 9 whitestone architectural monuments of the XIII-XIV centures of the federal meaning. They are the

    Cathedral Mosgue, Northern and Eastern mausoleums, the Khan's mausoleum, the Small minaret, the Black Chamber - the former yustice Hall, the White and Red Chamber- the ruins of the bath, the Smaller town. The archeological museum is in the Assumption Church (1732-1734). The exposition reflects the deveiopment of Bolgar town and includes the matherial of the excavations. The art Exhibition represents Bolgar theme in painting. There is the exhibition of oriental epitaphs of the XIII-XIV centuries in the Northern mausoleum. There is the preserved excavation inside the Eastern mausoleum. Archeologic investigations, restoretions, celebration of the date when bulgars took islam as their religion annually.
