The Krasnoyarsk museum centre began the existence in 1987 as branch, traditional for the time, of the Central museum Lenina. In 1991 with the purpose of reorientation of a museum the concept (authors - Gnedovskiy М.B was developed original cultural., Nikishin N.А.), leaning (basing) on which the Museum centre develops and works now.
As against traditional museums the basic activity of the Museum centre is focused not on the past, and on the future of culture. The third biennial passed in September, 1999. Eighty nine museums participated in competitions of biennial: exposition, museum video, museum editions, "a museum card", student's projects. On biennial 66 expositions were submitted.
In June, 2001 in Krasnoyarsk the museum centre the Krasnoyarsk museum biennial "Art of memory", devoted to search and registration of the special kind of art - art of memory was held IV. In the competitive programs of a forum - "Theatre of memory XX of century", "the Museum card" and "Monuments to the area of the World" - has taken part 78 projects from different cities of Russia and Europe.
