    The Penza Art Gallery was founded in 1892 at the last will of N/D/ Seliverstov, the Major of Penza. His own private collection of Western European and Russian Art formed the basic of the museum.

    The direction of the museum are

    Honoured Art Worked I.S.Gorushkin - Sorokopudov

    For 30 years the museum has been hesded by Honoured Art Worker V.P. Sazonov

    Nowadays the collection of the museum has over 12 000 articles of art. In the Penza Art Gallery there are large section of treasures of Western European, Russian and Soviet Art, decorative and applied arts, works of painters of the Penza art School.

    The peculiarity of the modern exposition is memorial museums included in its context. They are Savitsky's, Gorushkin-Sorokopudov and Lentulov's museums.

    The collection of the Russian Art of the X1X and of the beggining of the XX centuries rouses the greatest interest of vizitors.
