E.A. Boratynsky (1800-1844) is a distinguished Russian poet of "the Pushkin's epoch", a friend of Alexander Pushkin, a master of elegy and philosophical lyrics. In 1831-33 he visited Kazan and Kaymary - the Kazan estate of his wife Engelhardt. Several generations of E.A. Boratynsky's descendants lived in the XIX - XX centuries in Kazan and in the province. Therefore, the opening of the E.A. Boratynsky Museum in 1977 was natural for Kazan.
Until the beginning of 1990-es the museum did not have a memorial building and located in the premises of the Kazan school number 34. In 1991 he received a reconstructed wing of the Boratynskys' estate in the historical city center. The museum has a large collection (over 4000 exhibits), which includes commemorative items and documents connected with the poet and with several generations of Boratynskys family in Kazan province, personal belongings of A. Delvig, of the poet and the friend A.S. Pushkin, rare editions of the XIX century, etc.
For the years of existence in the "House of Boratynskys" the museum has become a noticeable phenomenon in the cultural life of Kazan. The museum exposition shows life and work of E.A. Boratynsky and his descendants, the provincial culture of the late XVIII - early XX century, the story of a noble family mansion. The club of Kazan antiquity-lovers operates in the museum
