The Center of modern art of St. Peterburg can be found on Pushkinskaya Str. #10. In 1989 "independent" (at the moment this term was still meaningful) painters, musitians, and other artists started a squat in one of the deserted houses on the site. They were then united under the name of foundation "Free culture" - a public non governmental non-commercial organisation which was later renamed as "Society". After the period of squatting, the artists community was officially recognized and received the name of Center of Modern Art of international value - or simply Cultural Center "Pushkinskaya - 10"

    At the present Cultural Center "Pushkinskaya - 10" consist of: The Museum of Nonconformist Art and it`s department author`s gallery of Vadim Voinov "Pons per Styx", which exposition is formed in collaboration with The State Russian Museum; 6 Art galleries, "The Tehno-Art-Center", Archiv and Library of Independent Art; The Committe of the "Temple of Love, Peace and Music" named after John Lennon; The Music club cafe "Fishfabrique"; "Baza" - the shop for dance, alternative and experimental music; the art publishing houses "Petropol" and "Adia - M" the design studio "Art Press" ; the educational art studio and around 40 studios for the artists and musicans, who are members of "Free Culture".
