In 1957 under the governmental decision the Moscow Pushkin museum was instituted. In 3,5 years it welcomed its visitors at the old mansion house (Prechistenka, 12), which once had belonged to the Chruschev-Seleznev family. Within a short period the Museum's collection has been sufficiently extended by numerous donations. At the moment it counts over 200,000 pieces of visual and decorative art, manuscripts, documents, as well as books about Pushkin, his creations and the posthumous fame.
