Sudislavl is an ancient town nhich has been famous for centuries. The name of Sudislavl is supposed to be connected with the name of Sudislavl who was one of the sons of Prince Vladimir the Saint. Due to its location at the trade crossroads Sudislavl had developed as a merchant trade town. The historical center of Sudislavl comprises a number of stalls, shops and cosy merchant mansions. Our museum is situated in the house of the XIXth century which belonged to mercant M.I.Sokolov. Our museum was founded in 1967. There are 3 showrooms in the museum.In one of them there is an exposition devoted to the history , life occupations and crafts in Sudislavl. The exsposition is based on the collection of original household items traced back to the XVIII-XIXth centuries . The large showroom is an art gallery. Here we hold replaceable exhibitions of local painters and masters of applied arts. In this very hall the remarkable musical and literary Salon 'Alexandra' brings together romance and classical-music lovers. Various Exhibitions are held in the third showroom.
