The united historical and memorial complex was opened for visitors on the 6-th of may 1985 . It includes :

    the museum "The Battle of Stalingrad";

    the panorama "The defeat of the german-fascist troops by Stalingrad";

    the ruins of the Mill.

    The museum`s exposition, which consists of eight halls, four diaramas and a central triumphal hall, tells about the Battle of Stalingrad which became a turning point in the history of the Great patriotie war of the USSR and in the WW II in favour of the anti-fascist coalition . The exposition has been designed on the subject-chronological principle. On display here there are such exponents as posters, leaflets, orders of the headquarters, banners, decorations, front newspapers, photos, letters, personal belongins of the figners, map-schemes, weapons, military equipment of the time. In general there are about 4000 exhibits, i.e. 6 sections, composed of 20 themes. The canvas of the panorama is located in a modern building of original design (called "rotunda") which has been errected above the museum halls.
